How many porta potties does a construction site need under Cal/OSHA?
Cal/OSHA's construction rule, 8 CCR §1526, requires 1 toilet for every 20 employees of each sex, or fraction of 20. Urinals may stand in for up to half of them. Crews under 5 people may share 1 single-occupancy unit. Our practical plan is 1 weekly-serviced unit per about 10 workers.
| Workers of each sex on site | Toilets required (8 CCR §1526) | Our weekly-service plan |
|---|---|---|
| 1–4 total workers | 1 single-occupancy unit allowed | 1 unit |
| 5–20 | 1 | 2 units (1 per ~10 workers on a 40-hr week) |
| 21–40 | 2 | 3–4 units |
| 41–60 | 3 | 5–6 units |
| 61–80 | 4 | 7–8 units |
The legal minimum assumes perfect timing. Ten workers on a 40-hour week fill a standard tank right around service day, so we plan closer to 1 unit per 10. Confirm your exact count with your safety lead or the inspector on your permit.

Does the construction porta potty price include weekly service?
Yes. Every construction porta potty from Beaumont Porta Potty includes 1 service visit each week: pump, scrub, sanitize, deodorize, restock paper and sanitizer, and refill any sink water. The price is the same whether 2 people or 10 use it. Weekly is the minimum we allow for health reasons.
- Same day each weekYour service day is set when the unit lands. It shows on the quote.
- No one needs to meet usIf the site is locked, give us the code or leave the gate open on service day.
- Extra visits on requestBig pours, summer crews over 10 or inspection week? Add a second stop.
- Stakes re-checkedThe tech checks the door, latch, level and wind stakes before leaving.
How does 28-day billing work for a job-site toilet?
Construction rentals bill in 28-day cycles that start on your delivery date, not the 1st of the month. Each cycle includes 4 weekly service visits. The first cycle carries the delivery and pickup line; later cycles cost less because that line is gone. Call 2 business days ahead to stop billing.
Cycles renew on their own until you call for pickup, so you never have to re-order mid-job. The long-term and monthly rental page walks through a full 6-month example.
Why is Beaumont building so much, and how does that change toilet planning?
Beaumont grew from 53,036 people in the 2020 Census to an estimated 60,835 by July 2025, about 14.7%. Beaumont Pointe plans 5 million square feet of industrial space, Potrero Logistics Center adds about 578,000, and new tract maps keep landing on the city planning list. More pads means more crews on open, windy ground.
The Amazon fulfillment center showed how fast a logistics site can staff up. Big pads change crew size week to week, so we add or pull units on a phone call instead of a new contract.
Work near the SR-60/Potrero interchange (construction May 2026–2028) means some routes run slower. Give us the gate you want the truck to use.
Starting a tract or pad in the Pass?
Call with the crew size, start date and a GPS pin. We set the units, stake them and put weekly service on the calendar the same call.
Why do you stake porta potties on graded pads?
Fresh graded pads are flat, bare and wide open, and San Gorgonio Pass gusts reach 50–60 mph. A 160-pound unit with a light tank can tip in 1 strong gust. We stake every unit on exposed Beaumont job sites and turn the door away from the west wind so it does not slam.
Tell us if the pad will be re-graded or trenched. We will move the unit before the dozer gets there. See the Pass wind and weather placement guide for more.
Do crews need shade and water near the job-site toilet in summer?
Cal/OSHA's heat rule, 8 CCR §3395, calls for 1 quart of water per worker per hour, shade once it passes 80°F, and high-heat steps at 95°F. Beaumont averages 96.3°F in July. Water and shade are your crew's setup; we help by adding service visits when usage climbs.
A handwash station near the toilet gives crews a place to rinse off before lunch. Crews over 10 should consider a second weekly stop from June through September.
What paperwork do you need to open a contractor account?
Most contractors need 3 things on file: a certificate of insurance for the site, a W-9 and a purchase order number. Beaumont Porta Potty sends the COI and W-9 on request, and approved commercial accounts can bill against a PO on net terms. Smaller jobs simply pay by a secure card link.

Short crews, hot roofs. Pair the unit with a handwash station for plaster and tear-off cleanup.
